Objective and Outcomes: * |
Participants will increase their understanding about how to teach reading in the elementary classroom. This will be an opportunity to look closely at the science of reading research and the balanced literacy approach. Participants will explore ways to integrate reading strategies in their classrooms from both perspectives. The focus will be on six scientifically sound shifts in the areas of: reading comprehension, phonemic awareness, phonics, high-frequency words, cueing systems, and text selection for early reading instruction. |
