Teachers plan lessons following the appropriate template including reading, writing and word study
Teachers understand how to use the appropriate assessment summary chart to determine the appropriate reading behaviors and uses flexible grouping
Teachers understand how to select books that match the instructional needs of the group (not just by level but by student behavior)
Teachers take notes including running records and notes about comprehension to guide instruction
Teachers have a brief book introduction and selects appropriate vocabulary to introduce
Teachers use the sight-word procedure to teach and review sight words
Teachers demonstrate the word study procedures
Teachers listen and supports students to apply problem-solving strategies focusing on all three cueing systems (meaning, syntax and visual) when coming to unknown words
