By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

Describe how young children's developmental, social-emotional, cognitive, and communication abilities influence their behavior.
Differentiate between developmentally typical behavior and behavior that may indicate a need for additional support.
Identify common triggers, antecedents, and environmental factors that contribute to challenging behavior.
Explain the purpose and function of children's behavior and use observation to determine what a child may be communicating through behavior.
Implement proactive classroom strategies that reduce challenging behavior before it occurs.
Use positive discipline techniques that teach children appropriate behaviors rather than relying primarily on punishment or consequences.
