Objective and Outcomes:

  • The goal of this event is to continue expanding teachers' knowledge of how to use student data and research-based instructional strategies to increase student learning. Groups of teachers will select a new area of focus for improvement from among the following: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, or Reading. They will examine student work and help each other implement instructional strategies designed to move students forward in the targeted area. The group will measure student growth toward the improvement goal by using assessment data

Evaluation and Evidence of Learning and Application:

  • Each participant will examine baseline student data, set group goals for improving student learning, choose and employ instructional strategies designed to improve learning, compare student work to help themselves and each other improve instruction, and measure student growth by examining student data after implementing the instructional strategies. Evidence of this work will be observed by administrators and instructional coaches who attend PLC meetings, and will be recorded in the minutes of PLC meetings.
