Goals and Objectives:
Participants will read and reflect on the three books listed below. These books will influence and guide our daily work over the course of our 2018-2019 school year in our Staff Development Days, weekly PLCs, and monthly Staff Meetings.
Goal: To continue to develop effective teams that are eager to come to school every day and do what is best for every student at Moses. Teachers will incorporate trauma-sensitive classroom strategies that allow for students to feel safe and then achieve academically.

-Culturize: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever it Takes by Jimmy Casa. List 6 concepts or ideas from the book and reflect on one of those concepts that will influence your work for the new school year. We will kick off our Moses Staff Development Day in August with these reflections and ideas, continue with Jimmy Casas speaking to our BPS Feeder schools and then continuing to discuss at PLCs and staff meetings as we develop our culture.
-Fostering Resilient Learners: Strategies for Creating a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom by Kristin Souers and Pete Hall. How does Fight-Flight-Freeze manifest itself in the classroom. What are a couple of ways you can "take care of number one" on a regular basis? What does "Forever Changed, not Forever Damaged" mean to you?
-The Art of Coaching Teams: Building Resilient Communities that Transform Schools by Elena Aguilar. How will the Dimensions of a Great Team be used to frame our work for 2018-2019? What will communication be like this year for our teams? What will your agendas look like to meet the needs of all? What are two areas that we do well on and one area for improvement based on the "Indicators of Learning Organizations"?

• Staff Development Days: August 21, Sept. 6 (2- 8 hour days=16 hours)
• PLCs: Weekly at grade level times 30 1 hour each= a minimum of 30 minutes each week =least 15 hours)
• Staff Meetings: one hour per month (9 hours)
Two graduate credits will be available. In order to obtain a PASS grade, staff must:
• Read all of the assigned reading and reflect
• Be present in all discussions and help plan next steps
• Be vulnerable to take risks and try out some of the activities suggested that the team agrees upon
