Apply terminology within the context of online learning and teaching.
Communicate and share your understanding of and experiences with online education.
Interact with students and instructors within Discussion Forums.
Complete various types of online assessments from a student’s perspective.
Develop an understanding of communication skills to relate to the online learner and digital natives.
Participate in a web conference.
Explore various types of communication methods that can impact student/teacher/parent relationships and success.
Review and become familiar with communications etiquette and practices.
Create a set of talking points for communication.
Explore multiple ways to personalize the online classroom
Analyze the important features found in most Learning Management Systems (LMS's).
Begin building content in an LMS of your choice.
Understand why an LMS is needed for online learning.
Understand the importance of data security in the online education space.
Realize the requirements of FERPA and the importance of the online K-12 space.
Have a greater awareness of cybersecurity.
Know the MCCE and the applications in the online education space.

Resources/Course Materials: *

Course will be taught through the Buzz LMS. Content is accessed from many different online sources. All is open source and approved for use. Content is approved through the national standards for online instruction and curriculum.

Attendance: *

Users must create an account in the Buzz LMS.

Evaluation and Evidence of Learning and Application: *

- Each module has multiple discussion threads that are required with a pass/fail. In addition, there are short multiple-choice formative assessments built-in so the learner receives immediate feedback about the presented content. Finally, there is an assessment form the learner must respond to at the end of the course providing a summary of the key concepts learned from each module and how they will be applied.
