To better understand emotions of self and others
Develop tools to cultivate resilience from the 12 habits and dispositions
The application would be to develop ones self image and the self growth will improve their teaching and classroom.

Evaluation and Evidence of Learning and Application: *

Participants will read the book Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators by Elena Aguliar and do corresponding activities in the workbook. Both book and workbook have been purchased for you. For you to receive credit, you will need to read the assigned chapters, complete activities as proposed and participate in monthly discussion meetings. We will meet on the third Wednesday of every month, TBA for one hour, except those specified.

September 1 - Read Introduction, Ted Talk Video, Discussion questions, Ground rules. 1 hour

September 15 - Chapter 1 Know Yourself and Chapter 2 Understand Emotions Complete inventory and come with results or computer login to discuss your attributes with small groups and complete 2 Workbook activities. Meet time will be 2 hours

October 20 - Read Chapter 3 Tell Empowering Stories and Chapter 4 Build Community, Choice of Workbook activities, Discussion with small groups. Meet time will be 2 hours

November 17 - Read Chapter 5 Be Here Now and Chapter 6 Take Care of Yourself Complete Mindfulness activity and self care goal - 2 hours

December 15- Read Chapter 7 Focus on the Bright Spots. Discussion questions in whole and small groups, Workbook activity. 1 hour

January 19 - Read Chapter 8 Cultivate Compassion. Workbook activity choice and share out with partners. 1 hour

February 16 - Read Chapter 9 Be a Learner. Discussion questions, Workbook activity. 1 hour

March 16 - Read Chapter 10 -Play and Create. Color Wheels activity and discussion of implementation. 1 hour

April 20 - Read Chapter 11 Ride the Waves of Change. Discussion questions and Workbook activity on leading change. 1 hour

May 11 - Read Chapter 12 Celebrate and Appreciate. Celebrate You Workbook activity and share with the group. 1 hour
Written summary of what has improved and helped them the most throughout this journey. Due March 24, 2022
