Objective and Outcomes: *

1. Participants will learn about brain research on how the brain learns to read and engage in studying six specific shifts in literacy instructional practices. These shifts help align instruction to the science of learning to read.
2. Participants will reflect on each shift and describe actions they will take in their own classroom to implement a shift in practice, including the outcomes they wish to achieve.
3. Participants will reflect on the implementation of a shift and share their reflections and outcomes with the study group.

Evaluation and Evidence of Learning and Application: *

Each participant will keep a log of reading assignments and reflections on the implementation of at least one of the shifts in instructional practice.
Participants are required to participate in four face-to-face discussion/reflection sessions with the learning group.
