Objective and Outcomes: 

Course Expectations:
Student work/reflections on lesson/video of a lesson need to be brought to every session as well as an observation by a coach, mentor or staff developer

Teacher Behaviors
• Teachers demonstrate their understanding of emergent/early literacy development by applying it to lesson development, teaching and professional conversations with grade levels and specialists.

• Teachers will apply their understanding that everything we say and do as teachers can affect a child’s emotional health and literacy identify.

• Teachers demonstrate their ability to plan developmentally appropriate literacy lessons with reading Alouds, Shared Reading, Phonological Awareness, Letter Learning, Concept of Word, Phonics, Interactive, and Shared Writing.
• Teachers attend to the reciprocal nature of between early handwriting and early reading
• Teachers know how to attend to the mechanics of handwriting by scaffolding with verbal pathways in the HWOT curriculum
• Teachers demonstrate knowledge of fine motor activities to support the development of handwriting
