Teachers understand the role of phonological awareness/phonics/word study in the overall literacy curriculum
Teachers understand the scope and sequence of phonics skills for their grade level as well as how to incorporate small group word study in guided reading for students needing additional phonics skills
Teachers show the ability to provide whole group phonics lessons at a quick pace
Teacher provides meaningful independent word-study activities where students are transferring their knowledge of phonics/word study
Teachers demonstrate their understanding of multi-sensory teaching (using magnetic letters, oral rehearsal)
