Objective and Outcomes:
After successful completion of the Connect to Career activities and research project, participants will: 1) Have an in-depth understanding of the programs offered at a 2-year community and technical college, 2) identify student abilities that are well-suited for programs offered at a community and technical college, 3) recognize the value of an education from a comprehensive community college, 4) realize the employment opportunities and earning potential of graduates who complete a degree or diploma from a 2-year community and technical college. Additionally, participants will be able to take the information back to their respective schools to pass along to colleagues and students who may have an interest in a 2-year college experience.
Participants will complete a reflective essay based on their participation in the workshop. They will be able to access program/major information through the M State website and any other relevant career and/or employment websites.
Participants will sign-in each day of the event.
Evaluation and Evidence of Learning and Application:
Students must complete 16 hours of coursework to earn the 1 credit for the workshop. The required hours will be met by attending both 8 hour days of the Connect to a Career event; a working lunch will be required as part of the hours. In addition, to attending both days of the event, participants will be required to complete a survey and submit a 1+ page reflective essay. The reflective essay should highlight what was learned from participating in the event and how they plan to pass along the information to others. Essays must be submitted to Tom Dubbels (email@example.com) via e-mail by Friday, June 21st, 2019.
